Apple has announced several new devices lately — with more sure to come tomorrow — but one rumored device that hasn’t yet made an official appearance is AirTags. We still don’t know when that reveal will happen, but the leaks continue today with a new image of an AirTag accessory.
A new photo purportedly shows an AirTag keychain. The image shared by leaker Fudge (via MacRumors) shows a keyring that says “Designed by Apple in California” and “Assembled in China”, and it’s attached to a Saddle Brown leather carrying accessory where you’d place the AirTag itself.
This accessory looks similar to drawings in an AirTag patent. That could add to this leak’s legitimacy but it also means that this accessory could be easy to take. So as Fudge notes, this leak should be taken with a grain of salt.
AirTag is expected to be the name of Apple’s oft-rumored item locator. The device will likely work similar to a Tile, letting you attach it to something important like your keys or backpack and then track that item in the Find My app if you ever lose your important item. The AirTag itself is expected to look like a small disc, meaning you could also do something like place it in a wallet.
It’s not known when Apple will officially announce AirTags. The company is hosting an event tomorrow, but that show is likely to focus on new Apple Silicon Mac computers that use Apple’s own processors, so it’s no guarantee that AirTags will be revealed there.
