Google ‘Sabrina’ Android TV dongle shows up in retailer system with $50 price tag

Following the recent appearance of Google’s “Sabrina” in the FCC, we’re now getting another piece of evidence that suggests that the Android TV dongle’s launch is close.

“Sabrina” has started appearing in the internal systems of Home Depot, complete with a price tag of $49.99. The listings shared by 9to5Google also show that “Sabrina” may be offered in at least three colors: Rock Candy, Como Blue, and Summer Melon.

Google’s “Sabrina” also recently appeared on the actual Home Depot website. The entry has since been deleted, but you can still view it using Google Cache right here. It confirms the $49.99 price tag and the Rock Candy color option, but the included image shows the current Chromecast and not the “Sabrina”.

Previous leaks have shown that “Sabrina” is an Android TV dongle with an oval shape that’ll plug directly into your TV using HDMI. It’s also expected to come with a remote that’ll have playback controls plus a dedicated Google Assistant button.

A price of $49.99 would be pretty aggressive for Google’s “Sabrina”, but it would help the Android TV dongle to compete with similarly-priced streaming sticks from Amazon and Roku.¬†

Google typically holds an event in early October to announce its new flagship Pixel smartphone and other hardware, and so we could get our official introduction to “Sabrina” in a month or so.
