Huawei’s custom EMUI 9.0 user interface has crossed a major milestone, and to celebrate, Huawei is pushing EMUI 9.0 to even more devices.
Huawei says that as of June 3rd, more than 80 million people around the world are using EMUI 9.0. The update is already available to the Mate 10 series, the P20 series, the Mate RS, and the Nova 3. The number of EMUI 9.0 users is expected to grow to 100 million by the end of June, and to help reach that goal, Huawei is now pushing EMUI 9.0 to older devices like the Mate 9 series and the P10.
EMUI is Huawei’s custom user interface that it places on top of Android. The update to EMUI 9.0 includes lots of improvements, including an AI prediction technology that brings optimizations like faster system response speed and a shortened app startup time. Also included is a GPU Turbo 2.0 technology that uses AI predictive resource allocation and intelligent scheduling to decrease touch delays.
Other notable improvements that come with EMUI 9.0 include an improved one-hand operation and more intuitive gesture navigation, like swiping up from the bottom of the screen to return home and swiping up from the bottom and pausing to open your task manager. There’s a Screen Time Management app in there to help you manage your phone and app usage, too, as well as a feature that’ll turn your screen grey at bedtime to help reduce your desire to use your phone.
If you’ve got a Mate 9 series or P10 series phone and haven’t yet upgraded to EMUI 9.0, you can check for your update by going into your phone’s Settings app, selecting “System”, then tapping on “System update”.
