iPhone 12 dummy models with updated design shown in new photos

iPhone 12 design dummy models

Many rumors have suggested that the iPhone 12 series will get an updated look this year, and now photos of some dummy units claim to show off what the new design might look like.

It’s been said that the iPhone 12 series will get a design similar to the iPad Pro with flat sides and flat screens rather than curved edges like the ones found on the iPhone 11 Pro. The dummies shown off today by Sonny Dickson reflect that, teasing a design that’s also a bit reminiscent of the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 12 series is expected to include four models across three screen sizes, and today’s leak includes a comparison of those three sizes: 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch. It’s been said that there will be two non-Pro iPhone 12s with 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch displays and then two iPhone 12 Pro devices with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens.

One thing to note about these photos is that the rear camera arrays will likely be different on the actual iPhone 12 models. Dickson says “cameras should not be taken 100%”, and that’s because rumors have said that the non-Pro iPhone 12 models will have two rear cameras while at least the larger Pro model is expected to have a triple rear camera setup plus a LiDAR sensor like the one found on Apple’s latest iPad Pro tablets.

While the rear camera arrays shown on these dummy models might not be accurate, these are still notable because they give us a real life look at what the new iPhone 12 design might look like.

Details on how these iPhone 12 dummy models were made aren’t given, but we often see case makers using rumors and CAD drawings to put together dummies like these to help them make cases that are ready for day one of a new iPhone’s launch.

iPhone 12 dummy design leak

Apple has been using its current iPhone design with curved edges for a few years now, so we do expect that an updated look is coming soon. This purported iPhone 12 design may not be a radical new look but it does look good, and the flat edges could make the iPhone 12s a bit easier to hold. Plus, many people say that the iPhone 4 and 5 designs with flat sides is their favorite of Apple’s iPhones, and this new iPhone 12 look is reminiscent of those designs.
