The LG Velvet was officially revealed last month following weeks of hype from LG. It then went on sale in South Korea, but we haven’t heard much about further availability since then. Today LG confirmed that its Velvet will indeed make its way to other markets.

LG says that the Velvet will launch in “key European markets” first, including Germany, Italy, Spain, Hungary, and Poland starting this month. Releases in countries like North America, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America are planned for the weeks after.

The Velvet is the start of a new product roadmap for LG that focuses more on expressive names rather than alphanumeric designations. With the Velvet, LG says that it wants to emphasize the device’s smoothness in your hand, including a 3D Arc Design that curves the glass on the front and back to give the Velvet a more natural feel in your hands.

When it comes to raw specs, the LG Velvet is equipped with a 6.8-inch 2460×1080 P-OLED screen with 20.5:9 aspect ratio and in-display fingerprint sensor. Inside the Velvet is a Snapdragon 765G processor with 5G support, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage, and there’s a microSD card slot if you need more storage in the future.

The LG Velvet’s “Raindrop” rear camera array includes a 48MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture plus an 8MP ultra wide cam with 120-degree field of view and a 5MP depth camera. There’s also a 16MP selfie camera that lives in a notch at the top of the Velvet’s display.

Other specs of the LG Velvet include a 4300mAh battery, stereo speakers, IP68 water and dust resistance, and Android 10.

Also of note is that LG will have a Dual Screen case for the Velvet much like it has for its other recent flagships. This Dual Screen attachment will give you a second 6.8-inch 2460×1080 P-OLED display for your Velvet for improved multitasking plus a 2.1-inch mono cover display on the outside to help you more easily check incoming notifications, the time, and so on.

LG talked up the Velvet quite a bit in the weeks leading up to its official launch last month, and so we’re glad to learn that LG will be more broadly available in the coming weeks and months. There’s no word yet on pricing, but with a Snapdragon 765G inside the Velvet could be a bit less costly than other 5G phones on the market than have a Snapdragon 865 chipset.
