The Nokia 8.3 5G was first announced back in March and, at the time, HMD Global said that it would begin rolling out globally in the summer. Fast-forward to today and the flagship has been confirmed for a US launch.
HMD Global confirmed today that the Nokia 8.3 5G will arrive in the US this autumn (via Engadget). The company isn’t saying much else about a launch date, any carriers that might sell the phone, or how much it’ll cost.
For reference, when the Nokia 8.3 5G was announced earlier this year we were told that the international model would start at at €599 EUR ($709 USD) for a model with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.
One of the highlight features of the Nokia 8.3 5G is its quad rear camera array with ZEISS optics. Included is a 64MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide snapper, a 2MP depth camera to help you get those portrait mode shots, and a 2MP macro camera.
Around front, the Nokia 8.3 5G features a 6.81-inch FHD+ screen with a hole-punch where the 24MP selfie camera lives. There’s a fingerprint reader built into the power button on the side of the phone, a Snapdragon 765G processor with 5G support, 6/8GB of RAM, and 64/128GB of storage. There’s a microSD card slot if you need more storage, too.
Rounding things out is a 4500mAh battery and 3.5mm headphone jack. HMD Global also pledges that the Nokia 8.3 5G will get two years of Android OS upgrades and three years of monthly security updates.
The upper mid-range Android smartphone market has been heating up lately, but the Nokia 8.3 5G could be a solid option for folks in the US. It’s got a nice-looking design and lots of cameras, though we’ll have to wait until we get the Nokia 8.3 5G in our hands before we know just how well those cameras perform. Plus, HMD Global is one of the best around when it comes to providing updates for its Android phones, and so Nokia 8.3 5G’s guaranteed updates are definitely an attractive feature.
