OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro specs leak hints at Snapdragon 865, high refresh rate displays

OnePlus 8 Pro renders leak

One day after the specs for Huawei’s P40 Pro and P40 leaked out, the spec lists for two other upcoming Android flagships have leaked.

Details on the OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 have purportedly leaked out. According to Ishan Agarwal, both phones will be powered by a Snapdragon 865 processor with 5G support. It’s also expected that both models will have 8GB and 12GB RAM options along with 128GB and 256GB storage options.

As you might expect since it’s got “Pro” in its name, the OnePlus 8 Pro is rumored to be a bit higher end. The OP8 Pro will allegedly feature a 6.78-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, while the non-Pro OP8 will have a 6.55-inch FHD+ screen with 90Hz refresh rate.

The two phones will reportedly differ a bit around back, too. The OnePlus 8 Pro is tipped to have a quad rear camera array with dual 48MP snappers as well as 8MP and 5MP cams, while the OnePlus 8 will have a single 48MP sensor paired with 16MP and 2MP cameras. Both models are rumored to have a 16MP selfie camera.

OnePlus is purportedly giving the 8 Pro a 4510mAh battery while the 8 will get a slightly smaller 4300mAh battery. Both phones are expected to support 30W Warp Charge 30T fast charging, but the OnePlus 8 Pro will allegedly also get 30W wireless fast charging and 3W reverse wireless charging.

The OnePlus 8 Pro will reportedly get an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. The OnePlus 8 is not expected to get an IP rating, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it won’t be able to stand up to some splashes.

Finally, it’s said that the OnePlus 8 Pro will be available in blue, black, and green color options while the OnePlus 8 will be offered in “glow”, black, and green colors.

There’s nothing too surprising in these leaked spec lists if you’ve been paying close attention to the OnePlus rumor mill lately, but there are still some notable features included. The OnePlus 8 Pro could be the first OnePlus phone to include an IP rating as well as the first with wireless charging support, both of which we’ve seen on many other flagships and would make for welcome additions on a OnePlus phone.

Past rumors have suggested that OnePlus could announce its phones next month, and a contest announced by OnePlus this week does suggest that an official reveal is coming soon. It’s also rumored that OnePlus could launch at least one new phone on Verizon, which would be the first time that we see a OnePlus device on Verizon’s shelves.

Based on the leaks and rumors, are you interested in the OnePlus 8 Pro or OnePlus 8?
