Today is the start of a new month, and according to a new leak, Verizon is kicking off August with a refresh of its unlimited plans.
Verizon is planning to announce four new unlimited plans that will replace its existing trio of unlimited plans. According to a report from Droid-Life, the new plans will be announced tomorrow, August 2, and will be available starting August 5.
The new plans are said to be named Start, Play More, Do More, and Get More, and like Verizon’s current Go, Beyond, and Above unlimited plans, the new plans offer different amounts of premium data, hotspot usage, and video streaming resolution.
Some of the notable changes with these plans include the fact that the top-end Get More plan is $5 cheaper per line per month compared to the current Above plan and it bumps the 4G LTE hotspot usage up to 30GB from the 20GB that’s included with the Above plan. The Do More/Play More plans are $5 less per month per line than the current Beyond plan, and the Start plan is $5 cheaper than Verizon’s current entry-level Go plan.
Looking at the upcoming plans, the top-end Get More plan offers 75GB of Premium Data, which is the amount of usage you get before your speeds could be slowed during times of congestion. It also includes 30GB of 4G LTE hotspot usage, 720p HD video streaming, Apple Music, and 50 percent off a tablet or mobile hotspot unlimited plan.
Moving on down the line, the Do More and Play More plans are the same price but offer differing features. With Do More, you get more Premium Data and 50 percent off a tablet or hotspot unlimited plan but only 480p video streaming and Apple Music for six months. The Play More plan has half the Premium Data and no tablet/hotspot discount, but it does bump you up to 720p video streaming and a free Apple Music subscription.
The Start plan is the entry-level plan that gets you unlimited 4G LTE data but no Premium Data, no mobile hotspot usage, 480p streaming, and six months of Apple Music. Also of note is that 5G access costs $10 per month with the Start plan, whereas the other plans include it for free for a limited time.
Based on what we can see in this leak, Verizon’s new plans look like improvements over their existing offerings. All four plans are a bit cheaper per month than Verizon’s current unlimited plans and there are a couple of nice upgrades, like the added 4G LTE hotspot usage on the Get More plan. All plans also include 500GB of Verizon Cloud Storage, which is a feature that is only offered with the top-end Above plan right now.
What do you think of these new Verizon plans? Are you thinking about switching to one of them when they launch next week?
